The much-awaited Annual Sports Day of St. Lawrence English Medium School, Moodubelle, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and vibrant spirit on the 28th of November. The event began with the dignitaries being escorted to the ground by the school band, marking a grand and energetic opening to the celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork.
The invited dignitaries present on the occasion were:

Chief Guest: Mr. Eric Arthur D’Sa, Entrepreneur, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Administrator: CA Pritish Burton D’Sa
Headmistress: Mrs. Sandra Lobo
Management Committee Members: Mr. Joel D’Sa, Mr. Ivan Menezes, and Mrs. Precilla Lobo
President of the Alumni Association: Mr. Glen Rebello

The programme commenced with a solemn prayer, invoking God’s blessings for the smooth conduct of the day’s events.

This was followed by a warm and graceful Welcome Speech by the Headmistress, Mrs. Sandra Lobo.

The excitement grew as the students performed a smart and well-coordinated March Past, offering March Past Honour to the President, Rev. Fr George Thomas D’Souza, adding dignity and pride to the event.

The school flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest, Mr. Eric Arthur D’Sa, officially declaring the Sports Day open. The torch was then lit by the Administrator, CA Pritish Burton D’Sa, and it was blessed by the Correspondent at the St. Lawrence Shrine.


Following this, the Chief Guest, Mr. Eric Arthur D’Sa, released the balloons, marking the celebration of freedom, joy, and the true spirit of Sports Day.

The oath-taking ceremony was led by the Sports Minister, Miss Anvita Prima Mathias, who pledged on behalf of all the participants to uphold fair play and true sportsmanship.

This was followed by impressive aerobic exercises performed by the students, showcasing flexibility, rhythm, and energy.

Each dignitary addressed the gathering with meaningful and inspiring messages:
Administrator, CA Pritish Burton D’Sa thanked all the teachers for their dedicated preparation and support in making the event successful. He wished the students the very best and encouraged them to give their best effort in every event.

Chief Guest, Mr. Eric Arthur D’Sa highlighted that failure and success are part of life and must be accepted equally. He stressed that sports play an important role in building both physical and mental strength, reminding students that consistent practice and hard work lead to excellence.

The donors of Sports Day were honoured by the Correspondent, who presented them with roses.
The President of the programme, Rev. Fr George Thomas D’Souza, spoke about how failure is the stepping stone to success. He reminded the students that life is a blend of both failure and success and encouraged them to accept each with positivity and strive to shine in society.

The best group of the March Past, the West and East squads, were appreciated with a prize sponsored by Mr. Joel D’Sa.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Tr. Vinita D’Cunha.

The entire event was efficiently compered by Tr. Maria Barboza and Tr. Alwina D’Souza, ensuring a smooth flow of the programme.

The Annual Sports Day was a grand success, reflecting the unity, dedication, and vibrant sporting spirit of the St. Lawrence family.
